Join WildKind: Adventure Outside with Your Kids
At WildKind, we know outdoor adventure looks different for everyone. We also know that living a life outside should not stop once family starts.
WildKind is here to help you and your family learn how to navigate an adventurous life, whether it’s backpacking, skiing, camping, or even a hike around the park.
Tackling outdoor adventures with kids can feel scary and overwhelming. How do I know what gear my kids will need? They grow so fast, and quality gear is so expensive! How do I find other families to adventure with in my area? None of our friends do these things. What do I need to pack to ensure we have a fun and safe adventure, without overpacking? I can only carry so much, but I always end up hauling a ton of stuff everywhere I go with my kids.
No matter what your challenge, WildKind has the resources to help you find your family’s wild. There is nothing more rewarding than a life lived outside with your kids. At WildKind, we are here to support, educate, and empower you and your family in your outdoor journey.
WildKind is reopening enrollment for memberships from Nov. 9th-17th. You do not want to miss this opportunity as we will not reopen again until April. Highlights for this winter include our partnership with GoPro and virtual ski school for members - see more details below!
Our membership partner for November - GoPro - has some great giveaways and discounts in store for you. If you enroll by Nov. 15th you will automatically be eligible to win a GoPro HERO9!
Everyone loves exclusive brand discounts and quality gear giveaways, but WildKind has so much more to offer families.
Let’s explore in detail all the resources a WildKind membership offers to help its members adventure outside with kids.
WildKind’s Instructional Video Library at Your Fingertips
We know that tackling outdoor adventure with children can feel scary and overwhelming.
Enter our instructional video library. Each quarter, our founders and other outdoor experts produce detailed videos to educate our members on different challenges families face outdoors.
Currently we have nine categories that cover camping with your babies and toddlers, including formula feeding outside, potty training at camp, and perfecting your family camp kitchen set up. Don’t worry if you have older kids, we’ve got them covered too.
We update our instructional video library quarterly, so get excited for a slew of winter sports-themed videos coming in December. That means detailed information covering all the ins and outs of skiing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, winter hiking, and ski touring with your kids.
Don’t Let COVID Ruin Your Ski Season
Depending on where you live, ski school access may look different this winter thanks to the pandemic. But WildKind has a solution!
This season, WildKind is teaming up with the Aspen Snowmass Ski & Snowboard School for the inaugural WildKind X Aspen Snowmass Virtual Ski Program!
Aspen Snowmass’s ski school is fully up and running this year with COVID-friendly practices and is ready to teach your little one ages 2.5 all the way up to teenagers, but they’ve generously offered to help us teach YOU (the parents) how to help your littles on the basics of skiing so that you can be more involved in the learning process and better prepared for whenever you decide to join their ski school in real life.
Think of this as a supplement until you can get out to visit Aspen Snowmass in person! Because, here’s the thing: helping your kids learn to ski feels daunting. Is my tot ready for the magic carpet? How do I teach my four-year-old to stop? Should I be using one of those edgie wedgie things? How hard should I push my six-year-old if she’s frustrated? How can I help my kiddo understand the concept of linking turns? Do parents really ride the lift with three-year-olds?!? Most importantly, what basics do I need to know outside of their ski school lessons so our family can have fun on the slopes together?
Aspen Snowmass Ski & Snowboard School is one of the premiere ski schools in the country, so they know how to keep the focus on play while teaching little ones the basic techniques to build confidence on the mountain. We can’t replace the top-shelf instruction that Aspen Snowmass offers during their full-day ski school lessons, but their guidance through the WildKind X Aspen Snowmass Virtual Ski Program will act as a perfect placeholder until you can pop in to see them in person (which we highly recommend). And don’t forget: when you’re ready to make the voyage to the Ski & Snowboard Schools of Aspen Snowmass, they still have lessons available this season! You may learn more about their program offerings here, and they are ready for you whenever you are!
Find Your Outdoor Community
Do your kids need friends to play with at the crag between climbs? Are you looking to meet new hiking or camping buddies? Want to learn directly from other adventurous families?
Look no further than WildKind’s community forum and member directory.
At WildKind, we know some of the most valuable information we can share with you actually comes directly from our other members. In the community forum you can start a chat to find the most kid-friendly dispersed camping in your area. Or, ask other parents for advice on how to convince your two year old to eat when you camp.
Better yet? Use our member directory to send a private message to a family in your area and make a plan to meet on the trail someday. We have members from all over the U.S., as well as Canada and Europe too.
Community Gear Swap: Access Used Gear from Quality Brands
Our instructional video library helps members understand what gear is necessary for a particular adventure and what brands to consider. Our community forum and membership directory help you find like-minded families to adventure with. And our community gear swap is a safe place for members to buy, sell, or trade used kids outdoor gear.
Raise your hand if you’ve spent hours scrolling Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace searching for quality used gear to support your constantly growing kids? Quality used gear is rarer than a unicorn, unless you get a crew of like-minded people in the same place.
Our gear swap is also a great place for members to seek advice from real parents who have used the products. What brands run small? What boots keep little feet warm and dry in the snow? What pants hold up to scrapes and tumbles on tough terrain?
Another perk of our gear swap? Not only is it better for your budget, but it benefits Mother Nature as well. Join WildKind in reusing apparel and gear, and saying no to “fast fashion”, to keep excess products out of landfills.
WildKind Events: Learn from Experts
Once the pandemic subsides, we’ll be hosting a number of in-person events for members. We cannot wait to get member families together in real life.
In the meantime, WildKind hosts monthly, live Q&As with industry experts. Members can tune in at 4 p.m. Nov. 18th, to visit with Kat Pilkington, a personal trainer and nutrition coach based in California. Kat plans to share a series of exercises geared specifically toward postpartum mamas looking to strengthen their bodies after birth in a gentle way.
Monthly Swag: Brand Sponsors and Giveaways and Discounts, Oh My!
Each month WildKind partners with industry leading brands to offer our members deep discounts on products families will use to make adventuring with kids safe and fun. All members are automatically entered in a gear raffle as well held on the 15th of each month.
In October, members received 40% off the entire Merrell site, and the WildKind raffle winner selected a pair of Merrell shoes of the member’s choosing.
This month WildKind has partnered with GoPro to provide members a 30% discount. As if that wasn’t good enough, the raffle winner will receive a GoPro HERO9!
Make sure to join WildKind by Nov. 15th to be eligible for the GoPro HERO9 giveaway.
Spoiler alert, we have two great brands lined up for December! Stay tuned for more information on those, and other upcoming partner brands.
Remember, WildKind membership opens Nov. 9th and closes Nov. 17th, until April. We want to help your family find it’s wild this winter.
No matter how you use WildKind’s resources, we are so excited to have you here and cannot wait to support, educate, and empower your family’s outdoor journey.
